KazNU Professor wins South Korean Government Scholarship

Natalia Em, a professor at the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, has won a prestigious scholarship from the Government of the Republic of Korea.

The funding was provided by the Korea Foundation, one of the leading organizations supporting international academic cooperation and the promotion of Korean studies in the world. As part of the program, Professor N.Em will begin scientific and teaching activities at Seoul National University.

The Department of the Far East of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has a successful experience working with the Korean Foundation. The last significant project was the receipt of a grant for an international scientific conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Korean studies at KazNU, which brought together leading scientists from Kazakhstan, Korea and other countries. Professor Natalia Em has also previously participated in the foundation's grant projects, in 2013 as a visiting researcher in South Korea.

Seoul National University is one of the Top 50 best universities in the world according to the QS ranking. Professor N.Em will jointly conduct research with leading scientists from the Gyunjangak Institute, a world–class center specializing in interdisciplinary research on Korea.

The project is aimed at studying multiculturalism in Korea and involves field research, data analysis, participation in scientific seminars and preparation of publications in international publications.
