5 september, 2025

On September 5, 2025, the Department of Turkology and History of Eastern Countries at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a scientific meeting of faculty members and students dedicated to the Day of Languages of the People of Kazakhstan. The event focused on the role of languages in a multiethnic society and the history of the formation of Kazakh linguistics.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that more than 85 ethnic groups live in harmony and friendship in Kazakhstan, and the language of each community serves as a mirror of its spiritual culture. Every language has its own history and destiny, and through language people understand one another and connect with national traditions.

The central part of the program was a scholarly presentation by Senior Lecturer of the Department, Ilyas Nurat, highlighting the invaluable contribution of Akhmet Baitursynuly to the development of linguistics.

At the conclusion of the meeting, participants once again underlined the crucial role of Akhmet Baitursynuly in preserving and promoting the national code of the Kazakh language. Drawing on factual evidence and professional analysis, the discussion led to meaningful conclusions regarding the historical development of the Kazakh language and its contemporary significance.

This scientific event not only underscored the academic and social importance of celebrating the Day of Languages of the People of Kazakhstan but also inspired students and young researchers to further explore the role of the national language in the global context.
