SDG 4:Students of the Faculty of Physics and Technology Listened to the Address of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. SDG 4 and SDG 7
In the lecture hall of the Faculty of Physics and Technology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the annual Address of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to the people of the country was broadcast.
The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Vice Deans for Academic Affairs, Research and International Relations, more than 100 students, as well as invited guests from the Faculty of Oriental Studies.
Students and faculty members listened with great interest to the key directions of state policy presented by the President. Particular attention was paid to issues of sustainable development, economic modernization, and the future construction of a nuclear power plant as an important element of Kazakhstan’s energy security.
The issues raised by the President are directly related to the training of future specialists. The Faculty of Physics and Technology plays a key role in preparing professionals in nuclear physics, energy, and engineering, which is especially relevant in the context of discussions about the construction of a nuclear power plant.
Connection with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The event contributed to the achievement of the following UN SDGs:
-
SDG 4 – Quality Education: providing students with up-to-date information on the country’s strategic priorities and involving them in national initiatives.
-
SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy: discussing the development of nuclear energy as one of the directions for sustainable energy supply in Kazakhstan.
Thus, watching the President’s Address became an important step in shaping students’ civic engagement and understanding the role of science and education in Kazakhstan’s strategic development.
