SDG 4:Response to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s annual Address to the Nation

In President Tokayev’s address, artificial intelligence (AI) was mentioned many times. The term has existed for a long time, but it has only recently become popular. That is why not everyone fully understands its capabilities. Let us recall the Luddite uprising, when craftsmen broke the machines in factories that displaced workers. Today, AI intends to accelerate intellectual labor. And what’s next? Will it lead to the elimination of jobs? Will it improve people’s lives?
AI began to develop rapidly with the advent of the massive volume of data during the development of digitization, which had to be quickly analyzed, providing final results. In this respect, AI is very necessary and it will improve the use of digital technologies. Another factor is granting AI access to various kinds of data. Here, the role of information security increases. The law on the protection of intellectual property may make the use of AI more high-quality. As the President noted, today with the help of AI it has become possible to create weapons of mass destruction. Therefore, regulating the use of AI is important for all humanity.
Apart from such dangerous aspects, the widespread adoption of AI in the country is beneficial to all aspects of life. Some will become smarter with the help of AI, but others will become dumber using AI. Therefore, it is important for each person to determine the benefit from AI, so that it is not harmful. The harm will be to those whom AI renders unnecessary and who will lose their jobs. How many will that be? A rebellion against AI is impossible. Therefore, new times are coming! We must not become dull, so learning, learning, and learning again is what will save us from catastrophe!
