Ties with Shanghai universities are being strengthened
Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a meeting with delegations from three prestigious universities in China – Shanghai University of Science and Technology, Shanghai International University of Business and Economics, and the Commodity and Economic Institute of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The parties discussed issues of further development of cooperation in the field of higher education, science and intercultural interaction.
The Chinese delegation included: Zheng Shi, Rector of the SCO Commodity and Economic Institute, Zhao Laijun, Director of the Institute of Management at Shanghai University of Science and Technology, Gao Wei, Director of the Institute of Innovative Entrepreneurship at Shanghai International University of Business and Economics.

At the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Board, First Vice–Rector Yerkin Duissenov noted a number of important joint educational projects. Thus, a branch of the Northwestern Polytechnic University of China is successfully operating in KazNU. The Kazakh-Chinese laboratory "Remote Sensing Technologies and their Applications", the International Chinese-Kazakh Scientific Laboratory for Energy-intensive Nanotechnology in cooperation with Nanjing University of Science and Technology and the 5G/5.5G Laboratory of Communication Technologies are also working within the framework of the Center for Remote Sensing of the Earth in cooperation with the Chinese Institute of Ecology and Geography of the XUAR.
In turn, the guests expressed interest in developing effective bilateral cooperation and expressed their intention to jointly implement mutually beneficial projects in the field of regional and global science and education in the future. They elaborated on the main directions and opportunities for the development of the future partnership.

Also during the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between KazNU and the SCO Commodity and Economic Institute. This document is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding educational, research and intercultural ties.
