Joint Seminar with Waseda University’s Faculty of Human Sciences Held at the Japanese Studies Section of the Department of Far Eastern Studies

On September 11, 2025, the Japanese Studies section of the Department of Far Eastern Studies at the Faculty of Oriental Studies hosted a workshop (seminar) and intercultural exchange with a delegation from Waseda University’s Faculty of Human Sciences. This visit marked the 24th cohort of the “Kazakhstan Study Tour,” led by Professor Ogihara. The delegation included 2 faculty members and 10 students.
During the event, students of Japanese Studies presented the university and showcased Kazakh traditions and national games. In turn, Waseda students delivered an informative presentation about their alma mater and organized interactive games. The guests offered small souvenirs and introduced the taste of Japan by serving Japanese sweets, miso soup, and tea.
The event fostered knowledge sharing and cultural interaction, expanding academic ties between the two institutions. Such regular meetings between the Department of Far Eastern Studies and Waseda University are held annually, providing students with valuable insights and lasting memories.
As a well-established tradition, these meetings strengthen friendly relations and serve as an effective platform for educational and cultural exchange. The department expressed its intention to further deepen cooperation through joint seminars, short-term schools, academic mobility programs, and collaborative research projects, confident in a long-term and fruitful partnership.
