On September 11, a practical discussion forum on the topic of "Activity of publishing articles in internationally indexed journals in Malaysia" was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National Library. The event took place within the framework of the international scientific and practical conference “Islamic Studies in Kazakhstan and Malaysia: Common Cases and Current Issues” and brought together leading scholars, directors of research institutes, and young researchers in both offline and online formats.

The forum was moderated by Dr. Ainur Kurmanaliyeva, Professor and Head of the Department of Religious Studies and Cultural Studies. In her opening remarks, she emphasized that publishing in internationally indexed journals is a key instrument for recognizing scientific achievements, an indicator of research quality, and a gateway to academic advancement. According to her, active publication in peer-reviewed journals enables young scholars to reach the international level and become part of the global academic community.

The main guest of the forum was Dr. Mohd Ruslan Mohd Nor, Editor-in-Chief of the Malaysian journal Al-Tamaddun. In his presentation titled “Challenges and Opportunities of Publishing a Journal in Scopus”, he spoke about the requirements for scientific articles, the importance of complying with editorial standards, and strategies to improve the quality of publications to ensure their successful acceptance in international databases. He particularly noted that adhering to the high standards of peer-reviewed journals helps build a strong research culture and enhances the competitiveness of universities.

During the Q&A session, young researchers received practical advice on how to prepare academic articles and navigate the publication process in international journals. The discussion took place in a lively and constructive atmosphere, demonstrating the strong interest of the academic community in publication-related issues.

As part of the forum, a separate meeting was held to explore opportunities for joint research projects between University of Malaya and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Dr. Ishak Sulaiman, Director of the Center for Research Funding and Innovation at the University of Malaya, presented promising areas for bilateral cooperation and highlighted the importance of joint scientific publications as the foundation for sustainable academic partnerships.

Leaders of research institutes and laboratories at KazNU also discussed with their Malaysian colleagues effective mechanisms for experience exchange. At the end of the event, participants were awarded certificates.

The next stage of the program was the workshop “How to Publish an Article in a Scopus Journal”, conducted by Dr. Mohd Ruslan Mohd Nor and editorial board member Shuaibu Omar Gokaru. The experts provided detailed explanations of the requirements for structuring and formatting academic articles, the rules of preparing manuscripts for peer review, and the steps toward successful publication in internationally indexed journals.

At the conclusion, participants discussed the results and took a commemorative group photo. According to the organizers, this workshop became a real opportunity for young Kazakhstani researchers to gain practical skills and confidently enter the global academic community.
