On September 15, an international conference on “The Application of Natural Science Methods in Archaeological Research” opened at the Al-Farabi Library of KazNU. The forum brought together leading specialists from Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, France, and the United Kingdom.

The event was organized by the Institute of Nuclear Physics, the A. Kh. Margulan Institute of Archaeology, the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR), and KazNU named after Al-Farabi. The conference was timed to coincide with the 70th anniversary of JINR — one of the largest international centers of fundamental science.

The presentations at the event highlighted the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in modern archaeology, the integration of natural and human sciences, and the contribution of Kazakhstan and international partners to the development of new methods for studying cultural heritage.
