The development of scientific research in the age of AI

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted the II International Forum of deans of Computer Science faculties within the framework of the Belt and Road initiative. The main theme of the event was the development of information technology in the era of artificial intelligence.

The forum was organized by KazNU and Northwestern Polytechnic University (China). The forum was attended by experts and deans of leading universities in Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

The purpose of the event is to expand international scientific and innovative cooperation, discuss current trends in the field of AI, as well as adapt educational programs to the requirements of the digital age.

Timur Imankulov, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology at KazNU, stressed that the President of Kazakhstan in his message identified digitalization and the introduction of AI as key priorities, which fully coincides with the university's development strategy.

During the forum, university representatives from China, Mongolia and Hong Kong presented reports on the impact of AI on science, the possibilities of generative AI and large language models, as well as the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration.

The participants paid special attention to the modernization of personnel training, the updating of curricula taking into account digital competencies, the development of joint research projects, the launch of international educational programs and academic exchange mechanisms.

Within the framework of the forum, two large panel sessions were held on new areas of scientific research and educational reforms in the field of computer science in the context of the rapid development of AI.
