The "Clean Kazakhstan" campaign continues at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

20 september, 2025

The Clean Kazakhstan campaign is systematically conducted at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, aimed at forming an ecological culture and increasing students' caring attitude towards nature.

This action is being implemented in accordance with the instructions of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and is designed to help improve the environmental situation in the country, develop a culture of nature conservation and educate the population about responsibility for the environment.

In order to consistently and effectively continue this initiative, KazNU has approved a specific action plan under the direct supervision of the Chairman of the Board, Rector Zhanseyt Tuimebayev. In accordance with it, the university regularly hosts scientific conferences, environmental meetings, landscaping and clean-up activities, in which students and teachers actively participate.

The event was attended by more than 5 000 people – teachers, scientists, staff and students of the educational institution.

As part of the campaign, the territories of academic buildings and dormitories, parks and a stadium were cleaned. The entire university grounds were thoroughly cleared of fallen leaves and accumulated debris.

In addition, staff and students took part in restoring order inside the buildings – office premises, corridors and classrooms were put in order.

Necessary equipment was prepared for cleaning: garbage bags, rakes, brooms, shovels and gloves, which ensured efficient and safe waste collection. All collected waste was carefully packed and sent for recycling or disposal in accordance with environmental regulations.

According to Ali Marat, a student at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, clean-up days contribute not only to maintaining cleanliness on the university grounds, but also form a culture of respect for nature. "This clean-up day is held within the framework of the republican environmental campaign "Clean Kazakhstan". We must take care not only of the cleanliness of our own homes, but also to maintain order in the places where we study and develop. The KazNU campus is our alma mater, and its purity depends on ourselves. I am sure that such events bring the team together, form responsibility and respect for the environment. I am proud to study at one of the leading universities in the country, and I am ready to make every effort to achieve my goals", - he stressed.

During the clean-up, special attention was paid to waste sorting and proper disposal of garbage.
