Events Dedicated to the International Day of Peace and the SDGs Held at the Faculty of International Relations.

On Friday, 19 September 2025, the Academic Regional UN Information Resource Center at the Faculty of International Relations of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a roundtable dedicated to the International Day of Peace.

The event brought together students of the Faculty of International Relations, who delivered presentations on the topic. First-year students prepared a report on the International Day of Peace, highlighting the pivotal role of diplomacy in the maintenance of global peace.

The roundtable also featured an open discussion on contemporary interpretations of peace. Participants shared diverse perspectives-ranging from the view of peace as the mere absence of armed conflict to its understanding as a foundation of mutual respect and inner harmony.

The meeting was attended by Vlastimil Samek, Representative of the United Nations Department of Global Communications in Almaty.

The program included an interactive segment and a musical performance, which enriched the event and encouraged active audience engagement.

Particular attention was devoted to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16, Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals.
On Friday, students also organized a drawing workshorp on "SDGs and Peace" and a concert in honor of International Day of Peace.
