Traditional Induction Ceremony Held for First-Year Students at KazNU’s Department of Japanese Studies

The event was attended by faculty members from the Department of Far Eastern Studies, as well as students from the Department of Japanese Studies. Honorary guests included exchange students from the University of Tokyo, Sophia University, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, and Kobe University, currently studying in Kazakhstan.

      The ceremony opened with welcoming speeches from Akerke Bolatbekovna Abagan, Head of the Department of Far Eastern Studies, and Madina Tynyshbekovna Shadayeva, Head of the Department of Japanese Studies. They congratulated the new students on the beginning of the academic year and wished them success in their studies. Following the speeches, a special concert program was presented by second-year students of the Department of Japanese Studies, under the direction of Senior Lecturer Gulmira Bimukhanovna Tazabekova, who also serves as the curator-advisor for the second-year cohort.

       As part of the program, students Bimukan Sharipov, Tangzharyk Taiyrzhanuly, Sergey Danilchenko, Eva Kornilova, Danil Gorenko, and Amir Tynybekov performed popular songs in Japanese and Russian. Eva Kornilova and Tomiris Rakhmetova presented a traditional Japanese dance titled “Kami no Mani Mani”, while Ayganym Sagatbek and Saya Bolatbek performed the well-known Kazakh song “Altynym.”  Additionally, Kazuhiro Uno, a Japanese student who spent a year studying at KazNU through an academic mobility program, shared a self-produced video about Kazakhstan, offering his unique perspective on the country.

       The event concluded with engaging presentations on Japanese history and culture, interactive quizzes, and games. Winners received memorable prizes. After the concert, a small reception was held for all attendees. The evening unfolded in a warm and friendly atmosphere, fostering cultural exchange and camaraderie among the students and guests.
