On September 24, 2025, at the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine and Neuroscience, a round table was organized for 4th-year students of the “Biomedicine” educational program under the guidance of adviser M.A. Yesenova on the topic: “WHO Framework Convention: Challenges, Achievements, and New Steps in Tobacco Control.”

During the event, students were informed about the harmful effects of smoking and the main directions of WHO’s tobacco control policy. Particular attention was paid to the growing popularity of electronic cigarettes and vapes among young people and their health risks. Successful steps such as restrictions in public places, warning labels on packaging, and price increases for tobacco products were highlighted. The necessity of restricting advertising on social media and strengthening preventive measures among youth was especially emphasized.

Students actively participated in the discussion and expressed their opinions. The round table fostered students’ interest in a healthy lifestyle and a deeper understanding of the importance of tobacco control.

Conclusion

The event was aimed at encouraging students to take responsibility for their health, avoid harmful habits, and contribute to the formation of a healthy society.
