Curatorial Hour “WHO Framework Convention: Challenges, Achievements and New Steps in Tobacco Control” Held as Part of SDG-3
As part of the implementation of the SDG-3 goals, on September 24, 2025, a curatorial hour on the topic “WHO Framework Convention: Challenges, Achievements and New Steps in Tobacco Control” was held at the Institute of Genetics and Physiology CS MSHE RK with the participation of 4-year students of the specialty 6B05108 - “Biomedicine” of KazNU.
During the event, students were informed about the harmful effects of smoking and the main directions of WHO’s tobacco control policy. Particular attention was paid to the growing popularity of electronic cigarettes and vapes among young people and their health risks. Successful steps such as restrictions in public places, warning labels on packaging, and price increases for tobacco products were highlighted. The necessity of restricting advertising on social media and strengthening preventive measures among youth was especially emphasized.
Students actively participated in the discussion and expressed their opinions. The round table fostered students’ interest in a healthy lifestyle and a deeper understanding of the importance of tobacco control.
The event was aimed at encouraging students to take responsibility for their health, avoid harmful habits, and contribute to the formation of a healthy society.
