Digital modernization of environmental legislation
An international scientific and practical conference on "Modern searches and prospects for the development of environmental legislation in the context of digital transformation" was held at al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The event in the framework of the implementation of the message of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the people of Kazakhstan was organized by the Department of Customs, Financial and Environmental Law.
The conference was attended by leading domestic and foreign scientists, international experts, representatives of government agencies of the Republic of Kazakhstan, human rights activists, teachers and students.

Opening the meeting, Erkin Duisenov, Deputy Chairman of the Board and First Vice–Rector of KazNU, noted the importance of the conference as a unique platform for the integration of legislation and science in the country. He stressed that the use of digital technologies in the field of law is the beginning of a new era in the development of our country and the improvement of environmental legislation is a common task for all.
"Digital transformation has become a key driving force not only in improving legislation, but also in achieving environmental safety and sustainable development. The issues that will be discussed at today's conference are very relevant for the ecological future of Kazakhstan", - he said.

In addition, Deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Abzal Kuspan spoke at the opening of the conference, who revealed the significance of the topic.
"The fate of protected natural areas should not depend solely on the human factor. According to environmental legislation, every decision must be transparent and controlled by society. Scientific research by scientists and digital tools will be of great help here", - said the deputy.

During the conference, participants comprehensively discussed the use of digital technologies (Big Data, GIS, artificial intelligence) in environmental monitoring, the effectiveness of digitalization in legal regulation and practice, and the adaptation of international experience to national legislation. Special attention was paid to the observance of legal mechanisms and international standards in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
