"The Great Silk Road and the Scholarly Legacy of Karl Baipakov: A Bridge Between Civilizations"

On October 3, 2025, an international scientific and practical conference titled “The Great Silk Road – a Bridge of Culture and Trade between Civilizations” was held at the Gylym Ordasy (Palace of Science) in Almaty, dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the birth of Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Karl Moldakhmetovich Baipakov. The event brought together leading archaeologists from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia, who delivered presentations. The conference highlighted the life and scholarly career of K.M. Baipakov, his invaluable contribution to the field of archaeology, and his significant role in studying the historical and cultural heritage of the Great Silk Road. Scholars emphasized his contributions to the archaeology of Central Asia, research on medieval urban culture, trade relations, and intercivilizational dialogue. At the conclusion of the conference, participants underlined that Karl Baipakov’s scientific legacy will continue to serve as an inspiration for young researchers and that the study of the history of the Great Silk Road will carry on in the future.
