Zhalgas Maksotov, a master's student of the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry under the "7M07101 – Petrochemistry" educational program (scientific advisor – Professor E.A. Aubakirov), successfully completed a scientific internship at one of the leading universities in the People's Republic of China – the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). He was awarded a certificate and a letter of appreciation upon completion. SDG 4 ‘Quality Education’ – providing students with access to international-level knowledge and innovative teaching practices. SDG 17 ‘Partnerships for Sustainable Development’ – strengthening academic and scientific ties between Kazakhstan and China.

The internship was carried out with the support of the Global Research Immersion Program for Young Scientists (GRIPS) and the Suzhou Institute for Advanced Research.

During the internship, the student conducted scientific research focused on synthesizing porous bismuth-based perovskites with an inverse opal structure using the polystyrene sphere template method.

The research project aimed to develop 3D nanostructures of lead-free CuBiAs-based perovskites. These structures enhance photocatalytic activity by improving light absorption and charge transport efficiency.

The GRIPS program provided a valuable opportunity for the student to improve his research skills, gain hands-on experience with modern laboratory techniques, and establish connections with leading international research centers.
