Future Translators visited the Exhibition at the New Almaty Museum of Arts

On October 4, 2025,  the first-year students (Russian group) of the Translation Studies (Western Languages) major  at the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University visited the new Almaty Museum of Arts, a modern cultural space that opened this autumn in Almaty.

The excursion was organized within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4 “Quality Education” and SDG 11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities”), aimed at fostering cultural literacy, broadening horizons, and developing students’ awareness of art as an integral part of global cultural communication.

During the visit,  the students explored exhibitions that reflect current trends in contemporary Kazakhstani and international art. They were particularly impressed by the works of local artists who combine national traditions with innovative artistic forms. The discussion of the exhibits became a practical continuation of classes on intercultural communication and translation theory.

It is worth noting that engaging with art is an important aspect of a translator’s professional development, as art teaches how to perceive and convey meaning beyond words, shaping a deeper understanding of cultural codes.

The visit to the new museum proved to be not only educational but also inspiring, contributing to the development of aesthetic thinking, critical perception, and intercultural dialogue — fully in line with Al-Farabi KazNU’s mission as a university of global partnership and sustainable development.
