With the aim of promoting national culture, students from the Higher School of Economics and Business, the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, and the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University attended the Gabit Musrepov State Academic Theatre for Children and Youth to watch the dramatic play «Qyzyl oramaldy shynarym» based on the work of writer and playwright Chingiz Aitmatov.

The performance depicts events that took place in the 1960s at the foothills of the Tien Shan Mountains in Kyrgyzstan. The story follows a chance encounter and fateful love between Asel, a village girl, and Ilyas, a truck driver. Their relationship is filled with sincerity and devotion, yet their life paths diverge. Asel leaves her home without her parents’ blessing to follow her beloved, but their happiness proves short-lived as fate separates them.

«Qyzyl oramaldy shynarym» is a profound work that invites audiences to reflect on the depth of the human soul, the transience of life, and the value of every moment. The play encourages viewers to appreciate genuine feelings and to cherish what they have. It beautifully brings to life the wisdom of the saying, «We don’t value the gold we have until it’s gone», leaving audiences with deep emotional reflection.

Students shared that the performance left a strong impression on them and helped them understand the importance of making the right choices, taking responsibility, and showing mutual respect.
