Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Almaty Delivered a Special Lecture to Students of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

On October 8, 2025, the Department of Far East of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University jointly organized a special lecture titled “The Economy and Culture of the Republic of Korea and Cooperation with Kazakhstan.”

The lecture was delivered by Mr. Ha Tae Wook, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Almaty. During the event, participants gained in-depth insights into South Korea’s economic development trends and cultural characteristics. The lecture also covered the historical and geopolitical significance of the East Sea and the Dokdo Islands.

The event was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Mr. M. Sh. Egamberdiev, faculty members, students of the Korean Studies section, and other interested students. In his welcoming remarks, the Dean emphasized the importance of strengthening friendly and cooperative relations between the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Kazakhstan.

A concert performance by Korean Studies students was warmly received by the audience. Following the lecture, participants had an engaging Q&A session with the Consul General, who addressed their questions and shared his perspectives.

This event served as an important step in strengthening cultural and academic ties between Korea and Kazakhstan and made a significant contribution to the university’s mission of promoting international education and cooperation.
