A roundtable discussion on “Degradation of Natural Ecosystems and Its Consequences” was held within the framework of SDG-13 and SDG-15

On September 29, 2025, the Department of Botany and Agroecology at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology held a roundtable discussion titled “Degradation of Natural Ecosystems and Its Consequences.” The event was led by Senior Lecturer, PhD, Almagul Rakhatqyzy Aldibekova.
The roundtable aimed to develop students’ scientific and critical perspectives on the current state of ecosystems, promote the rational use of natural resources, and discuss global environmental challenges within the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals No. 13 (“Climate Action”) and No. 15 (“Life on Land”).
During the session, students actively discussed:
-
the causes and consequences of natural ecosystem degradation;
-
pressing environmental issues such as deforestation, desertification, and the loss of biodiversity;
-
local and global impacts of climate change;
-
the role of youth and future ecologists in conserving and restoring ecosystems.
In their presentations, students proposed timely measures, including fostering environmental culture, introducing green technologies, and applying international best practices in nature conservation.
In conclusion, the roundtable facilitated knowledge and experience exchange, strengthened students’ environmental responsibility, and encouraged active citizenship aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
