International Cooperation of the Research Center “Written Monuments and Spiritual Heritage”: Results of the III Scientific and Practical Seminar at the Nur-Mubarak Egyptian University of Islamic Culture

On October 9–10, the III International Scientific and Practical Seminar entitled “Culture of Kazakhstan and The Manuscript Heritage of Islam: A Case Study of the Collections of the Golden Horde and Mamluk Egypt” was held at Nur-Mubarak Egyptian University of Islamic Culture.

The seminar was attended by the Rector of Nur-Mubarak University of Islamic Culture, Doctor, Professor Ahmed Hussein Muhammad Ibrahim; Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan, Grand Mufti, PhD, Nauryzbay Taganuly Otpenov; Doctor, Professor Alidost Ertugrul; Professor Fatih Yahya Ayaz of Çukurova University (Turkey); Professor Muhammed Bilal Çelik of Sakarya University (Turkey); as well as Doctor, Professor Ashirbek Kurbanuly Muminov, Advisor on the Organization of Central Asian Studies at IRCICA (Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture, under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation), among others.

From Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the Director and researchers of the Research Center for Written Heritage and Spiritual Legacy—Professor Zubaida Shadkam, Omirali Tuyakbayev, and Nazym Kairanbayeva—took part.

In addition, Nurgul Dauletkyzy Sultanbayeva, a first-year PhD student at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, delivered a presentation entitled “The Physical Structure of Medieval Written Monuments in Central Asia.” Her presentation was well received by the participants of the seminar. She was awarded a certificate and invited to participate in the upcoming conference scheduled for December.
