Senior Lecturer of the Department of Customs, Financial and Environmental Law, PhD Dr. M.N. Umbetov, together with first-year students, held a round table discussion on the topic: “The UN, SDGs, Goal 1 — No Poverty.”

Sustainable Development Goal No. 1 — No Poverty

No one should live in poverty. This is the first and one of the most important goals adopted by the United Nations within the Sustainable Development Agenda.

Today, millions of people around the world are forced to live on minimal resources. Poverty is not only about a lack of income — it also means limited access to education, healthcare, clean water, and safe housing.

Kazakhstan is also implementing a number of programs aimed at reducing poverty: improving the social support system, creating new jobs, developing entrepreneurship, and enhancing the well-being of rural residents — all of these are concrete steps toward eradicating poverty.

Each of us can contribute to building a fair society and ensuring equal opportunities. Small acts of kindness and support can become the beginning of great change.
