An agreement has been signed with Saint Petersburg University on the development of the KazNU supercomputer
Rector of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Rudskoy and the First President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Askar Akayev paid a working visit to al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The honorary guests were met by the Chairman of the Board, Rector of the university Zhanseit Tuimebayev and held talks in a narrow format. During the meeting, the parties agreed to further strengthen cooperation between the two universities, especially in the field of artificial intelligence and information technology, in order to implement joint research and projects. As a result of the negotiations, KazNU and St. Petersburg Polytechnic University signed a memorandum on educational and scientific cooperation. As part of the agreement, the parties will share their experience in using supercomputers. It is also planned to hold training seminars to improve the skills of specialists in this field. In addition, projects aimed at solving application and system programs are being considered.

Then Andrey Rudskoy and Askar Akaev held a meeting with the KazNU staff. The event brought together teachers, scientists, undergraduates and doctoral students of the university.
The meeting was opened by the head of the university, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, who noted that the event would help strengthen ties between the two universities.

"Honorary Professor of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Askar Akayev is visiting the university for the fourth time. The working visit of Andrey Rudsky, Rector of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, to KazNU is also very important for us. Three Nobel Prize winners have graduated from St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. This is a great achievement. I am confident that in the future, scientists from the two universities will work together and achieve high results",- said the rector.
At the end of his speech, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, by decision of the Academic Council, solemnly awarded Andrei Rudsky the title of "Honorary Professor of KazNU".

In turn, Andrey Rudskoy expressed gratitude for the honor.

"I was lucky that I came to the Kazakh land. I was born in Kazakhstan. So this trip is special for me. I got acquainted with the scientific potential and history of KazNU. The University has a great future ahead of it. At the meeting with Zhanseit Kanseitovich, we discussed a number of issues aimed at developing interuniversity relations. In the near future, 10 students of engineering sciences at KazNU will undergo an internship in Russia",- said Andrey Rudskoy.

Askar Akayev also spoke at the meeting, expressing his opinion on the trends in the development of artificial intelligence and its impact on society and science. He stressed the importance of international cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence and stressed the need to implement major joint projects in this area through the exchange of experience between scientists from Kazakhstan and neighboring countries.

After the meeting, a special campus tour was organized for the honored guests, and the university's scientific infrastructure was presented.

It should be noted that in the coming days, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Askar Akayev will read a leadership lecture for the staff and students of KazNU.
