Visit of Professors from the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, to Al-Farabi KazNU

On October 14, 2025, professors from the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences) visited the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The meeting was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences and professors of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.

The Dean presented the faculty’s activities, scientific potential, educational programs, and international projects. In turn, the professor from the Chinese institute introduced the main research areas and ongoing projects of his institution in the field of ecology and climate change.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for joint research on climate change, adaptation issues, and the strengthening of academic cooperation between universities in Kazakhstan and China.

Both sides expressed their interest in further developing the partnership, including holding joint seminars, exchanging students and faculty members, and preparing joint scientific publications.
