SDG № 4, 10: KazNU participated in the World Congress on Inclusive Education

17 october, 2025

The First World Inclusion Congress (World Inclusion Congress – WIC 2025) was held in Almaty. The event was organized by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Akimat of Almaty city, the HOPE Foundation (Help Others Pursue Education, Kazakhstan), and the International Forums of Inclusion Practitioners (IFIP, United Kingdom). The Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi is also participating in the congress, represented by the Scientific and Practical Center for Inclusive Environment.

The congress brought together over 1,200 participants from 40 countries — representatives of government bodies, the scientific community, international organizations, educators, experts, and leaders in the field of inclusive education. Delegates came from Asia, Africa, North America, Australia, and Europe. More than 100 international and local experts will speak at plenary and panel sessions.

The main guests of the Congress included Daniel Sobel, founder of the International Forums of Inclusion Practitioners (IFIP) and a recognized expert in inclusive education; Umesh Sharma, Vice-Rector of the University of Nottingham and a leading scholar in the field; and Takaharu Tezuka, a world-renowned architect and the author of the famous Fuji Kindergarten.

The Congress focuses on innovation, digitalization, and the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies in education. Special attention is given to technological solutions supporting children with special educational needs, improving the quality of learning, exchanging international experience, and strengthening partnerships between countries.

As part of the Congress, the Innovation Expo opens, showcasing solutions in digital technologies, education, and accessible environments from domestic and international companies. Seventeen companies from Kazakhstan, the United Kingdom, China, the USA, Poland, and Southeast Asian countries participate in the exhibition. The expo will run for all three days of the Congress in the pavilions of the Grand Hall hotel and in an open-air tent.
