Attending the play “The Scent of Wormwood”

On October 19, 2025, first-year students of the Genetics programme at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, accompanied by their curator Senior Lecturer G. N. Shaltenbay, attended the dramatic play “The Scent of Wormwood” at the G. Musrepov State Academic Theatre for Children and Youth.

Based on Sain Muratbekov’s touching story “Жусан иісі (The Scent of Wormwood)”, the play depicts wartime childhood, human resilience, and the eternal power of kindness. The aroma of wormwood — symbolizing memory, homeland, and purity — filled the stage, evoking deep emotions and nostalgia.

Students were profoundly moved by the performance, reflecting on the tragic legacy of war and the moral strength of humanity, reaffirming the cultural and educational power of theatre.
