An open lecture on “Evolution of Phytocenoses: Florogenesis and Phytocenogenesis” was held.

20 october, 2025

On October 17, 2025, from 14:00 to 14:50, the Department of Botany and Agroecology, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, hosted an open lecture in the 8D05108 – Geobotany doctoral program for the course “Current Issues in Geobotany.”
The lecture was delivered by Assoc. Prof. T.S. Ibragimov. Language of instruction: Kazakh. Room: 323.

Lecture topic: “Evolution of Phytocenoses. Florogenesis and Phytocenogenesis.”
Participants: 1st-year doctoral students (Kazakh-medium cohort).

During the lecture, the instructor systematically addressed the historical development of phytocenoses and their structural-functional transformations, the processes of florogenesis, and the regularities of phytocenogenesis, outlining core concepts and current research directions. The content was supported by empirical examples and highlighted geobotany’s interdisciplinary links (floristics, ecosystem ecology, paleobotany, biogeography).

The session was interactive: doctoral students discussed conceptual diagrams explaining phytocenosis evolution, speciation, and community dynamics, took part in Q&A, and presented their own insights.

At the end, learners engaged in reflection and consolidated methodological aspects of florogenesis and phytocenogenesis, principles of working with sources, and modern analytical approaches (time–space series, gradient analysis). The open lecture was organized at a high scientific-methodological level, and the content and student engagement were positively evaluated by departmental colleagues.
