Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev took part in a round table meeting chaired by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek in an online format.

The event was dedicated to discussing the results of work on the development of Russian science and improving the efficiency of a supercomputer.

In his report, Zhanseit Tuimebayev presented the work plan of the Supercomputer Center at the university and focused on the results that are expected in the future.

"The Supercomputer center at KazNU is a hybrid cluster that includes 400 servers with a central processing unit (CPU) and 30 servers with a graphics processing unit (GPU).  This allows you to model complex scientific tasks, make predictions based on big data, integrate projects such as AI agents related to artificial intelligence and large language models of the Kazakh language. The potential of the Farabi Supercomputer Center is very high. KazNU is ready to negotiate the use of the supercomputer by universities and organizations. Work is already underway with government agencies, ministries, and the mayor's office of the city to share the resources of the supercomputer. KazNU's supercomputer takes scientific research to a new level", - said the rector.

The capacity of the supercomputer in the treasury is 2,000 teraflops. One of the 600 best supercomputers in the world.

Currently, the educational institution, together with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, is using a supercomputer to work on digital modeling and forecasting, determine pollution levels, remote sensing of the Earth, environmental monitoring, and create AI models. In addition, the Almaty city Prosecutor's Office has concluded a special agreement on the implementation of joint projects.

Amirkhan Temirbayev, Director of the Farabi Supercomputer Center, also spoke at the round table on behalf of KazNU, who explained the directions of using the supercomputer in scientific work.
