35th Anniversary of the Declaration of State Sovereignty Celebrated at Al-Farabi KazNU

An international scientific and practical conference titled “The Declaration of State Sovereignty and Modern Kazakhstan: Challenges, Achievements, and Horizons of Sustainable Development” was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University to mark the 35th anniversary of the Declaration of State Sovereignty and the Republic Day of Kazakhstan.

The large-scale event brought together prominent scholars, public and state figures, university leadership, faculty members, and students.

The conference was opened by the Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, who congratulated the participants on the Republic Day. He emphasized that this day is not merely a date on the calendar but a symbol of national unity, pride, and aspiration for the future.

In his speech, the Rector highlighted the contribution of academicians Sultan Sartayev and Salyk Zimanov, whose names are forever inscribed in the history of Kazakhstani constitutionalism.

“Today, Kazakhstan is entering a new era of digital technologies and artificial intelligence. Under the leadership of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the country is successfully implementing a renewal strategy based on the principles of ‘Law and Order.’ This approach makes justice, transparency, and responsibility the key values of sustainable development",- the Rector noted.

Welcoming speeches were also delivered by Irina Smirnova, Member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Igor Rogov, Doctor of Law and Professor, Damir Katayev, Deputy Prosecutor of Almaty city, and other guests.

During the plenary session, well-known scholars and experts presented reports devoted to the history and modern development of Kazakhstan’s statehood, sovereignty, political system, and socio-economic and legal reforms.

The conference continued with section meetings discussing topics such as “Constitutional and Legal Development of Kazakhstan as a Sovereign State", “State Sovereignty as a Value: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Challenges and Prospects”, “Economic Policy and Constitutional Principles of Sustainable Development” and others.
