A new academic year has been opened in the NWPU branch on the basis of KazNU

The opening ceremony of the new academic year at the branch of Northwestern Polytechnic University (NWPU) in Kazakhstan took place at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The branch of the multidisciplinary, research University of NWPU has been successfully operating on the basis of al-Farabi Kazakh National University since October 2024, teaching students in sought-after specialties: "Electronics and Communication Technologies", "Materials Science and Engineering" and "Computer Science and Technology". This year, 42 undergraduate students, 53 graduate students and 4 doctoral students were accepted into the branch.

The event was opened by Margulan Ibraimov, Member of the Board, Vice–Rector for Research and Innovation. He congratulated the students on the start of the academic year and stressed that the establishment of the Kazakhstan branch of Northwestern Polytechnic University has become a model of cooperation in the field of higher education between the two countries. The Vice-Rector highly appreciated the results of the partnership with colleagues from China in the field of scientific research and innovation, including the creation of joint laboratories, microsatellites, and a breakthrough in remote sensing technology. "Dear students, by choosing the NWPU branch at KazNU, you have chosen a platform supported by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping", the Vice Rector emphasized. "It provides you with access to the best academic resources. Treat this opportunity with great respect, strive for excellence in education and science, mastering your chosen fields".

The representative of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Kazakhstan, Liu Yi, addressed the students with a welcoming speech. "By joining the NWPU branch on the basis of KazNU, you have become young envoys of friendship between China and Kazakhstan. NWPU and KazNU have combined educational concepts, resources and scientific potential of the two countries. The establishment of the branch has become a clear example of the high–quality implementation of the goals of the One Belt, One Road project," said the guest of honor. "I hope you will make full use of the rich resources of the NWPU branch, acquire solid professional knowledge and become specialists with broad views and highly qualified and intercultural competencies".

The event continued with performances by new bachelors and undergraduates of the branch, who talked about themselves and their motivation to get a high-quality education at their chosen educational institution.

At the end of the event, the students of the branch were awarded certificates.
