KazNU and NPU Double-Degree Master’s Students Took Part in the Opening Ceremony of the New Academic Year. SDG 4 and SDG 17
The opening ceremony of the new academic year was held at the Hall of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, with the participation of master’s students enrolled in the double-degree program between KazNU and Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU), Xi’an, China.
The event was attended by the Director of the Department of Science, the Director of the Confucius Institute at KazNU, the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovative Activities, the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, and the leadership of NPU’s branch.
During the ceremony, speakers emphasized that the double-degree program strengthens academic and research cooperation between Kazakhstan and China, enhances students’ international competencies, and develops their research potential in the fields of physics, nanotechnology, and engineering sciences.
It was also highlighted that the first cohort of double-degree master’s students successfully graduated last year, continuing their research within joint scientific projects between KazNU and NPU.
The implementation of the double-degree program contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular:

SDG 4 – Quality Education, through expanding academic mobility and integrating international educational standards;

SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, by strengthening academic and scientific collaboration between Kazakhstan and China.
The ceremony symbolized a new stage in the development of KazNU’s international educational initiatives and the strengthening of its strategic partnership with NPU.
