Education plays a crucial role in the development of society and the state. Current global trends show that combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills is the most effective method of learning.

One of the key elements of higher education is scientific research, which contributes to the development of advanced technologies and the training of highly qualified specialists. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) is one of Kazakhstan’s leading universities, offering modern conditions for study and research. Its campus houses advanced laboratories equipped with modern instruments, as well as a library with coworking zones, allowing students to apply their knowledge in practice.

In recent years, KazNU has made significant strides in information technology development. A key achievement includes the opening of Farabi HUB, the launch of supercomputers, and the establishment of specialized laboratories at the Faculty of Information Technology, focused on robotics, artificial intelligence, and scientific research.

One of KazNU’s scientific centers is the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, part of the Department of Computer Science at the Faculty of Information Technology. The laboratory’s goal is to train talented students and provide opportunities for future employment as research staff or AI specialists. Every year, the laboratory announces a summer internship program for undergraduates and master’s students, offering them valuable practical experience and the chance to become part of a community of like-minded individuals.

Young researchers at the laboratory actively work on innovative projects, including:

  • Development of robotic systems using artificial intelligence.

  • Bioinformatics, including analysis and processing of biological data using machine learning algorithms.

  • Data processing and analysis for AI, creating intelligent models and predictive analytics systems.

  • Computer vision, developing algorithms for image and video recognition and interpretation.

  • Web development, creating intelligent online systems and web applications.

  • 3D modeling, designing and visualizing complex engineering solutions.

KazNU continues to implement innovative approaches in education and research, creating conditions for training qualified IT specialists. The Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics is a prime example of successfully combining theory and practice, opening broad opportunities for students’ scientific and professional growth.
