Al-Farabi KazNU Holds a Cleanup Event to Promote Environmental Culture

On September 20, 2025, a cleanup event was held on the campus of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University as part of the implementation of three directions of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the “Clean Kazakhstan” (2024–2029) Environmental Culture Development Plan.

The main goal of the event was to promote environmental awareness, foster care for nature, and emphasize the importance of keeping the environment clean. Faculty members and students actively participated by cleaning the areas assigned to them.

Such ecological initiatives help strengthen environmental culture in society and increase young people’s sense of responsibility toward nature. The active participation of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics in the cleanup aligns with several UN Sustainable Development Goals. SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – by maintaining cleanliness in the university and public spaces, students contributed to the environmental sustainability of their city. SDG 13: Climate Action – protecting the environment and promoting ecological culture are steps toward mitigating the effects of climate change. SDG 15: Life on Land – cleaning green areas and caring for nature contribute to the preservation and balance of ecosystems.

Students and faculty members who took part in the cleanup demonstrated that protecting nature is a duty of every citizen. Such initiatives not only strengthen the sense of responsibility within the university community but also foster the development of environmental consciousness.
