SDG 17: Partnership for Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals A New Stage of International Cooperation

Representatives of Samarkand State University visited the Department of Turkology and Language Theory at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. On November 4–5, 2025, the Department of Turkology and Language Theory at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an official delegation from the Urgut Branch of Sharaf Rashidov Samarkand State University (Republic of Uzbekistan).

The main purpose of the visit was to strengthen scientific and educational cooperation between the two universities and to implement joint academic projects. The delegation included Zikirillo Shukrilloyevich Yazdonov, Vice-Rector for Youth Affairs of the Urgut Branch; Sherzod Omonov, Dean of the Faculty; and Ismoil Babakulov, Professor of the Department of Language and Literature.

During the visit, professors and faculty members delivered a leadership lecture for students, sharing their experiences in fostering youth’s professional and personal development. Students actively participated in discussions on the spiritual and cultural unity of Turkic peoples and the integrative role of language and literature.

The Head of the Department, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Raushangul Amirdinovna Avakova, held a meeting with the guests to discuss joint research projects, co-authored publications, academic mobility programs, and other forms of cooperation.

As a result of the talks, the parties agreed to organize professional development and internship programs for Uzbek lecturers and students, and to invite KazNU Turkologists to deliver guest lectures at the Urgut Branch.

This visit marked an important step toward strengthening academic and cultural ties between the scientific communities of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The department’s faculty expressed confidence that such collaborations will contribute significantly to the scientific and cultural integration of the Turkic world.
