Round Table within the Framework of Al-Farabi Week “Based on the Ideas of Rational State Governance of Al-Farabi: Financial and Investment Aspects of Implementing the Alatau City Project”

On November 6, 2025, a round table discussion on the topic “Based on the Ideas of Rational State Governance of Al-Farabi: Financial and Investment Aspects of Implementing the Alatau City Project” was held in Room 201 of the Conference Hall of the Higher School of Economics and Business, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The event was organized by the Department of “Finance and Accounting” in collaboration with first-year master’s students of the educational program 7M04127 – “Finance.” The round table took place within the framework of Al-Farabi Week and was aimed at contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 4 – Quality Education, and SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth.

The main purpose of the round table was, in accordance with the Address of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the principles of Al-Farabi on building a rational and just society, to discuss the financial, investment, and socio-economic aspects of the implementation of the “Alatau City” project, as well as to explore effective mechanisms of public administration and to promote the ideas of sustainable development.

Distinguished scholars and Farabi researchers were invited to the event, including Professor Zhakypbek Altayuly Altaev (Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science), Professor Ainura Durbelinovna Kurmanaliyeva (Head of the Department of Religious Studies and Cultural Studies), and Associate Professor Pirimbek Mukhanbetovich Suleimenov (PhD in Sociology, Director of the Al-Farabi Center).

The participants discussed the issues of effective governance mechanisms, principles of justice, and sustainable development in the context of the President’s Address. The event gathered researchers of Al-Farabi’s heritage, faculty members, doctoral students, master’s students, and undergraduates of the Higher School of Economics and Business.

The moderator of the round table was Rysty Bozmanaevna Sartova, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Acting Professor, and Head of the Department of “Finance and Accounting.”

During the active discussion, participants concluded that Al-Farabi’s ideas on rational and just governance remain relevant today, particularly in the context of implementing large-scale investment and infrastructure projects such as Alatau City.

As a result of the round table, proposals were developed to improve financial and investment mechanisms aimed at achieving sustainable development.
