Askar Akayev Delivered a Lecture on the Development of Humanity in the Era of Artificial Intelligence at Al-Farabi KazNU
At Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the First President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Leading Researcher of the Institute for Mathematical Studies of Complex Systems at Lomonosov Moscow State University, Professor Askar Akayev delivered a leadership lecture titled “The Development of Humanity in the Era of Artificial Intelligence.”
The main idea of the lecture emphasized that humanity is on the threshold of three crucial stages of civilizational transformation: technological (driven by artificial intelligence), demographic, and evolutionary changes that will have a profound impact on the future of human development.
The event brought together prominent scholars and experts, as well as the university’s faculty members and students. The Dean of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, Zh.M. Bektеmesov, along with the faculty’s professors and master’s students, also took an active part in the lecture and engaged in discussion with the renowned scientist.
The Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, introduced the distinguished guest and highlighted his outstanding contribution to the advancement of science and education. Askar Akayev is a figure who came to politics from science. He earned a degree in engineering mathematics at Saint Petersburg University and the Leningrad Institute of Fine Mechanics and Optics, and later defended his candidate and doctoral dissertations at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute. Under his leadership, the role of the Kyrgyz Academy of Sciences in international scientific exchange was strengthened, and several engineering and technological projects were implemented, – noted the rector.
In his address, Academician Askar Akayev praised the program outlined in the Address of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, titled “Kazakhstan in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Key Challenges and Solutions through Profound Digital Transformation.” This is one of the most ambitious national initiatives. Within three years, Kazakhstan aims to become a fully-fledged digital state. In this direction, Al-Farabi KazNU can take the lead in developing artificial intelligence technologies and advancing the policy of digital transformation, – emphasized the scientist.
According to Professor Akayev, in the coming years humanity will experience demographic, technological, and evolutionary singularities. These processes will elevate human–AI interaction to a new level, paving the way for a “human + AI” symbiosis that will become a driving force across all spheres of life.
At the end of the meeting, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and exchange views on the future of artificial intelligence and its impact on human development.
