Professor Harvey F. Lodish from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, USA) shared his experience in developing new biotechnologies

On October 29, 2025, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a leadership lecture by Professor Harvey F. Lodish from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, USA) titled “New technologies and the creation of successful biotech companies for disease treatment: a personal story.”

In his talk, Professor Lodish highlighted the crucial role of universities, research laboratories, business communities, venture investors, and government support systems in building an effective biotechnology ecosystem.

He shared insights into the development of world-renowned biotech companies — Genzyme, Tevard, and Cerberus — emphasizing the importance of innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurship.

The lecture inspired students and faculty alike, fostering a deeper understanding of the connection between science and innovation. The event also strengthened international academic cooperation and promoted a culture of scientific excellence at Al-Farabi KazNU.
