Chairman of the Board - Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev met with Deputy Director General of the Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al–Saud Charitable Foundation Abdul Aziz al-Makushi and a delegation from the Organization of the Islamic World for Education, Science and Culture (ISESCO) at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The Rector emphasized the university's willingness to strengthen cooperation with scientific and educational institutions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
During the talks, the parties discussed the prospects for expanding cooperation in the fields of science, higher education, academic mobility and cultural exchange. It was noted that contacts between Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia are developing dynamically. This progress is confirmed by the results of political consultations and the activities of the Dialogue Platform "Central Asia – Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Persian Gulf".
KazNU currently cooperates with the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, as well as with the King Salman International Academy of Arabic. The University implements joint projects with ISESCO. In addition, work is underway to develop educational programs and develop Islamic and humanitarian studies. The Mishkat program, which unites young researchers from different countries, is being successfully implemented.
Following the meeting, new vectors of cooperation were identified. The parties considered the possibility of opening an ISESCO department at KazNU to train specialists in the field of Islamic studies and the Arabic language, as well as the creation of a joint scientific and educational center "ISESCO - Farabi Digital Lab". The participants discussed the annual ISESCO – Al-Farabi Youth Scientific forum and the development of online teacher training programs on the ISESCO platform. The initiative to open a Mishkat Center at KazNU for the development of the study of the Arabic language and Islamic culture was also supported.
