SDG №3: Healthy Lifestyle Promoted at Al-Farabi KazNU
At Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, an educational meeting titled “Freedom from Nicotine” was held to promote a healthy lifestyle among students, encourage them to give up harmful habits, and raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco smoke to human health.
The event featured Daniyar Abdrakhmanov, a public health expert and social activist, who held an open-format discussion with students.
During the meeting, the speaker presented factual data and scientific evidence about the long-term effects of nicotine on the human body, the physiological and psychological aspects of addiction, as well as the health risks associated with modern forms of smoking such as vapes, snus, and IQOS.
He also spoke about the marketing tactics of the tobacco industry and the misconceptions spreading among young people, offering effective strategies for overcoming harmful habits.
Students actively participated by asking questions and receiving practical advice on motivation and methods to quit nicotine addiction.
The main goal of the event was to promote a healthy lifestyle among youth, enhance public awareness of the dangers of nicotine, and support the “Smoke-Free University” initiative aimed at transforming the Al-Farabi KazNU campus into a completely tobacco-free zone.
Such awareness-raising meetings not only strengthen students’ health culture but also foster their sense of personal responsibility and active civic engagement.
