Workshop on “Different Strategies in Cholera Vaccine Development”

10 november, 2025

In alignment with SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, our students, together with their instructor A.A. Meldеbekova, organized an engaging workshop dedicated to current strategies in the development of cholera vaccines. The session brought together academic curiosity and teamwork as participants explored how science responds to one of the world’s most persistent infectious threats.

Students reviewed classical vaccine approaches – such as inactivated whole-cell formulations and attenuated Vibrio cholerae strains – as well as modern innovations, including recombinant protein vaccines, polysaccharide–protein conjugates, and emerging oral vaccine technologies designed to boost mucosal immunity. Case studies on licensed vaccines and ongoing clinical trials helped participants understand real-world challenges, from strain diversity to stability and accessibility in low-resource settings.

The workshop emphasized how scientific innovation, community health, and global cooperation contribute to reducing cholera burden worldwide. By strengthening knowledge and practical understanding, students actively supported the mission of SDG 3: ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all.
