From November 6 to 15, 2025, R.E. Zhumadilov, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Plasma Physics, Nanotechnology and Computer Physics, was on a business trip to Astana. The main purpose of the trip was to strengthen scientific collaboration, conduct joint experimental research, and improve the practical skills of young researchers. During the visit, R.E. Zhumadilov, together with leading scientist Professor A. Dzhumabekov, carried out experimental studies at the laboratory facilities of Nazarbayev University, the results of which will serve as the basis for the preparation of a scientific article.
One of the key areas of the research was the synthesis of carbon nanowalls using an ICP-PECVD system (Inductively Coupled Plasma–Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition). Using this setup, the growth mechanisms of carbon nanostructures in a plasma environment were investigated, along with the influence of synthesis parameters on the morphology of the material and possible ways to improve the structural and functional properties of the obtained carbon nanowalls. During the experiments, the main technological parameters, including gas mixture composition, plasma power, pressure, temperature, and synthesis time, were optimized, which made it possible to obtain samples suitable for further scientific analysis. These studies provide a basis for the future application of carbon nanostructures in sensing, energy-related technologies, and electrochemical devices.
During the business trip, doctoral student Kyrykbay Baglan Armanuly also actively participated in the experimental work. He gained practical skills in operating the experimental setup, conducting the plasma synthesis process, preparing samples, and performing scientific analysis of the obtained results. In addition, the doctoral student acquired hands-on experience in working with modern laboratory equipment and learned the main stages of conducting scientific research. This will undoubtedly contribute to the successful implementation of his dissertation work, the improvement of his scientific qualifications, and his future research activities.
As a result of the trip, work was initiated on the preparation of a joint scientific article based on the obtained experimental data. The research findings are planned to be submitted to an international scientific journal. Overall, this business trip made a significant contribution to the development of scientific collaboration, the strengthening of the department’s research potential, the adoption of new technologies, and the training of young researchers.
