Sustainable City is A Safe Future: An Open, Resilient, and Environmentally Harmonious Urban Space
On November 4, 2025, senior lecturer of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies, I.K. Azimbayeva, held an demonstrative event in Student Residence No.17 with the third year students of the EP “6B02303 - Foreign Philology (Western Languages)”, dedicated to the topic SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities. Following the advisory session, the students visited the Almaty Museum of Arts, a contemporary art museum. During the meeting, issues related to the openness, safety, resilience, and environmental sustainability of cities were discussed, as well as the impact of modern urbanization on the environment.
The environmentally focused exhibitions of the museum helped students gain deeper insights into ways to reduce negative environmental impacts in urban spaces, the importance of promoting green technologies, and the development of a culture of sustainable living. The excursion contributed to enhancing students’ ecological awareness and reinforced their understanding of the importance of building a sustainable future.
