Startup projects and business incubator
Within the framework of the International Scientific Conference of Students and Young Scientists "Farabi Álemi", an annual competition of innovative projects of student business incubators is held with the aim of selecting the best student innovative business ideas and further supporting their acceleration at all stages of development — from concept development to commercialization.
In 2023, 72 innovative projects participated in the competition, and 9 projects were recognized as winners.
In 2023, in partnership with Jas Ventures Almaty and SDU, and with the support of Qazinnovations JSC, the JAS Incubation Fall Season incubation program was conducted.
The program participants included:
- Assel Abylai, a student of the Higher School of Economics and Business, with the startup “4 BalAPPan” — an application similar to 1Fit, designed for children and parents;
- Aidanа Balabayeva, a student of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, with the startup “Development and implementation of hydrogel forms of antiseptic agents based on chlorhexidine”;

Within the incubation program, the Aitekit startup was selected as the winner. Its product addressed the problem of ineffective and non-personalized approaches to treating acne and other skin conditions by providing clients with innovative skin microbiome analyses and personalized cosmetic products tailored to their unique needs.
In 2024, 58 innovative projects took part in the competition, and 9 projects as well as 2 special nominations were recognized as winners. The awardees received diplomas and monetary certificates.
As of October 2024, 24 student startup projects are being implemented at the university.
In 2022, the student business incubator launched 6 student startup projects, and in 2023 — 7 startup projects.
A steady increase in the number of projects and rising student interest in such initiatives can be observed.
As part of the IV International Farabi Forum, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a competition of innovative projects by student business incubators. The event was organized by the Center for Technology Commercialization and Creative Industry with the aim of selecting the best student business ideas and supporting their development — from concept to commercialization.
The university strives to motivate students to create their own innovative projects and entrepreneurial initiatives during their studies, encouraging them to think about building their professional trajectory and generating new job opportunities. The competition is aimed at shaping a unified strategy for the development of the Student Business Incubator and promoting active involvement of universities in supporting and advancing student entrepreneurship.
This year, the best projects were selected for the exhibition of innovative projects of student business incubators. A total of 51 innovative projects participated in the competition. Based on the results, 9 projects were recognized as winners. They were awarded diplomas and monetary certificates. Each participant also received a certificate of participation and a letter of appreciation — a symbol of recognition for their creativity, bold ideas, and contribution to the future of entrepreneurship.
