By order of the rector of al-Farabi KazNU No. 3-21 of 01/08/2020 the “Biomedical Research Centre” was established. One of the key areas of the Center's activity is the study of the effects of natural biologically active compounds on socially significant diseases in Kazakhstan.
The purpose of the Center is the development and implementation of research in the field of biomedicine: chronomedicine, chronobiology, immunology, endocrinology, biomassage, acupuncture, medical biophysics, PCR analysis, phytopreparations, as well as the study of the effects of natural biologically active compounds on socially significant diseases. The Center also focuses on the training of highly qualified scientific personnel, the development and implementation of research and development results into relevant industries and the educational process, contributing to the economic growth of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Employees of the institute actively contribute to the research activities of the university:
- 2018-2020 - implementation of projects under the MES RK program AP05131710 "Grant funding for scientific research" Pharmacological approaches to the correction of myeloid suppressor cells (mdsc) to suppress chronic inflammation as a tumor growth stimulator in the experiment.
- 2021 - implementation of projects under the MES RK program AP09562010 - "Activity of NF-κB signals in myeloid suppressor cells generated from bone marrow cells under physiological and pathological conditions"
- 40 articles were published in the international database Scopus and Web of sciences and 11 articles were published in scientific journals recommended by the CCSS.
- An image article about the KazNU Establishes a Biomedical Research Center was published on the QS wownews.com website. As part of the popularization of the contribution to science and to raise the image of KazNU. al-Farabi presented more than 20 materials for the media and other television programs of the republican scale.
- The author's website "Biomedical Research Center" Biomedicine.kz was created; the purpose of creating the website was to notify the results, work done and provide useful recommendations during a pandemic. To raise the university's rating and promote a personal brand.
- Received copyright certificate No. 15109 dated 11.02.2021
- An application for a patent "Mechanisms of the combined anti-inflammatory action of medicinal plant extracts" has been submitted.

In 2023, the Biomedical Research Center won 2 projects in an open competition and submitted a program under the program of fundamental research in the field of biological and medical sciences of the The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2022-2025.
