The Traditions of the Scientific School Continue

A commemorative event dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of the prominent scientist and expert in physical chemistry, Professor Gulzhan Khasenkyzy Shabikova, was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. As part of the event, the Kazakh-language edition of the textbook Physical Chemistry was also presented.

The event was attended by the faculty leadership, academic staff, veteran educators, and students. Participants highlighted the outstanding life journey of the scientist, her significant contribution to the development of chemical science in Kazakhstan, and her crucial role in training talented young specialists.

The presentation of the new textbook was conducted by Professors M.K. Nauryzbayev and D.K. Kamysbayev, as well as the scientist’s daughter, Sholpan Khanum, who introduced the publication to the wider academic community.

The meeting concluded with support for several initiatives to honor the memory of G.Kh. Shabikova, including dedicating the international “PhysChemist-2026” Olympiad to her and naming one of the faculty’s educational laboratories in her honor.

This event became a vivid demonstration of respect for Kazakhstani chemical science and the enduring continuity of traditions within the national scientific school.
