KazNU students took part in the Tourism Olympiad

Students of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management of al-Farabi Kazakh National University took part in the VIII International Olympiad among students of the educational program "Tourism" on technology and tactics of active types of tourism, held in Astana.

The Olympiad was organized in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular, to promote the achievement of SDG 4 "Quality education" and SDG 17 "Partnership for Sustainable Development".

This year's Olympiad brought together more than 20 student teams from various universities and colleges in Kazakhstan, which made the competition dynamic and professionally significant. Over the course of three days, participants demonstrated their skills in disciplines aimed at testing technical training, tactical skills, physical endurance and teamwork. Such events play an important role in developing the professional competencies of future tourism professionals and promoting active tourism among young people.

The university team was represented by students of the department: Meirambek Kazhigali, Meirkhan Parimbai, Bakdaulet Saparbek, Ali Tolegen, Nuray Nurkaparova.

The students showed a high level of training and decent results. In the orienteering discipline, Meirambek Kazhigali took 2nd place, demonstrating excellent individual technique. In addition, the university team won, taking 1st place in the "Homework" category thanks to a well-prepared video presentation.

Following the results of three days of competition, KazNU took 3rd place in the team competition.
