A 4th-year student of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics won 3rd place at the “Farabi GreenCampus: Clean University” eco-forum

Kolamsak Saule, a 4th-year student of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, successfully presented her project FarabiGreen Point at the youth environmental forum “Farabi GreenCampus: Clean University” and won 3rd place.

FarabiGreen Point is a mobile application designed to simplify waste sorting on the university campus.

Key features of the project:

• Proper waste sorting: an interactive campus map shows the types and locations of waste containers.
• Motivation system: students earn bonus points by disposing of waste and scanning a QR code. These points can be used in campus cafés, the library, the gym, and other services.
• Eco-challenges and rewards: weekly and monthly environmental tasks encourage students to participate in eco-activities.
• Innovative technologies: automatic waste recognition (Machine Learning) and smart sensors make the sorting process easier.
