Campus project in campus: a year later
Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Faculty of Oriental Studies Department of the Far East closely cooperates with some universities of Japan. One of them is the University of Tsukuba. It is not an exaggeration to say that the relationship with the University of Tsukuba established in 2009, has intensified even more in this academic year. Particularly, on November 11, 2015, within the project "Campus in campus" in the faculty was opened Scientific and Educational research center of Japan and Central Asia (Almaty office of the University of Tsukuba), and was held an international seminar jointly organized with the University of Tsukuba called "Science of Japanese Studies in Kazakhstan: Present and Future". As usual, in this academic year, two graduate and one undergraduate students of the department are taking language training courses at the University of Tsukuba. Specially invited professor T. Nïnomïya works at the University of Tsukuba. Also, in accordance with the agreement established in 2012 between two universities, in March of this year students of the University of Tsukuba came to take 3 week Russian language course at the pre-university department of KazNU. Teachers of the department of Japanese Studies organized special courses for Japanese students and conducted lectures about the Kazakh language and culture. On March 25, among the students of the University of Tsukuba and Tokyo Foreign Language University and students of the Department of Japanese Studies was held an international student forum called "The gender dimension in social relations between Japan and Kazakhstan". The main objective of the forum is establishing close cooperation between students of the two universities within the project "Campus in the Campus". Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies B.N.Jubatova opened a forum with a congratulatory speech, and gave certificates of completion of the course to the students from the University of Tsukuba. During the forum, students presented a presentation in Japanese and Russian languages, which was followed by the interesting discussion. At the end of the forum, the students of Japanese Studies played “kyui” with dombra and sang a japanese song. The relationship between these two universities would be strengthened with such measures.
