Online Meeting of the Students of 6B02304 – “Translation Studies (Western Languages)” major with NCOC Translator Nurgisa Asylbekov
The Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies held an online meeting for the students of the educational program 6B02304 – “Translation Studies (Western Languages)” with Nurgisa Asylbekov, a practicing translator from NCOC – North Caspian Operating Company, the operator of the North Caspian Project developing the Kashagan field.

The meeting took place on 29 November at 13:00 within the framework of SDG 8 – “Decent Work and Economic Growth.”
During the meeting, the speaker shared detailed insights into the specifics of translation work in an international oil and gas company, the nature of written and oral translation in large-scale industrial projects, key professional competencies, and modern corporate communication standards.
Students had the opportunity to ask questions about career trajectories, working conditions, professional challenges, and development prospects in the industry. The open dialogue format enabled an active exchange of experience: current trends in translation, specialized terminology, digital tools, corporate ethics, and working in a multicultural environment were discussed.
At the end of the meeting, Nurgisa Asylbekov highlighted the strong potential of KazNU students and emphasized the importance of continuous professional development and practical skill-building.
Such events help strengthen practice-oriented learning and allow students to better understand the requirements of the modern labor market, fully aligning with the objectives of SDG 8.
The online format ensured broad student engagement and contributed to an open and dynamic discussion.
