Event under SDG 4: “Electrical signals in the human body”

14 november, 2025

On November 14, 2025, a lecture titled “Electrical Signals in the Body” was held at the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine, and Neuroscience of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University as part of the 4th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4). The lecture was delivered by Associate Professor Marzhan Sussarovna Kulbayeva.

The aim of the lecture was to enhance students’ scientific literacy and ensure access to quality education by explaining the mechanisms of electrical signal generation in the human body (neuronal impulses, cardiac electrical activity, muscle potentials), their physiological roles, as well as their applications in science and medicine. Students deepened their understanding of the fundamental biophysical processes and were able to connect the importance of electrical phenomena in neurons and muscle cells with practical examples.

In conclusion, the lecture contributed to enhancing students’ scientific literacy, improving their ability to analyze physiological processes, and strengthening their interest in modern biological and medical methods. The knowledge gained will serve as a foundation for making informed and responsible decisions in the fields of health, technology, and science.  Fourth-year students of the Biology specialty took part in the event.
